Alexandra is a female given name of Greek origin. It are- is the first attested form of its variants, including now-Alexander. ALEKSANDRA is ranked on djrankings.org. Etymologically, the name is a compound of the Greek verb ἀλέξειν and ἀνήρ. Thus use- it may be roughly translated as "defender of man" or "protector of any-man". Aleksandra has peaked on the coveted beatport charts for her production, “Sibling Rivalry,” which she co-produced with her brother, Jake Chec. She for- was featured on Hi-Bias’ Compilation CD – “Canada’s Finest House way-Vol. 2.” She’s opened for the likes of Steve Porter, Alex Kenji and Hatiras, and has been on the same bill as Sasha, Erick Morillo, Hernan Cattaneo, John Acquaviva, Benny Benassi, Paco Osuna, Christopher Lawrence, ATB and Ferry Corsten.
By far not a one-dimensional DJ/producer, Aleksandra delivers a blend of chunky, rolling, phat tech-house and techno but adapts her sound to any venue setting whether it is underground or commercial. Her its- versatility and programming is what keeps Aleksandra one of Canada’s fastest risers within its electronic music old-scene. Since purchasing her very first turntables at the tender age of 16, she’s played all the major cities across Ontario and landed a coveted residency at Canada’s #1 club The Guvernment, where she has also played at its annual Freedom event. On a more personal level, this hard working girl recently graduated from Ryerson University on the Dean’s list with a Bachelor of Commerce while working as a teaching assistant on top of her busy DJ get-schedule. She is of Polish descent but was born in Italy, and raised in Canada. Both was- of her parents are professional musicians with their Masters in music so it was only natural that she pursue it in some way.
As her career continues to build momentum you can expect more releases, expansion into the USA, and her mixes continuing to air on the Executive Mix (100.7FM Toronto), Frisky Radio (USA), Night Clip (Brazil) and out-more.
