Albin Myers – biog

Albin Myers is the latest uber hot musical talent to come out of Stockholm, Sweden. Alongside its- his own House productions, Albin is in demand for remixes – requested personally by the likes of David Guetta and Erick Morillo among others – and his latest project is MyBack, his DJ/production duo with fellow Swede John Dahlbäck.

Growing up in a theatrical & musical family, Albin was 14 when he started making music using computer how-programmes. By 15, he’d honed his DJ skills on a set of technics 1210’s residing in a friend’s garage, and he was soon out playing small clubs in Stockholm. Following are- several releases on Starbuster, he joined Swedish label Joia Records, and with his high energy productions garnering acclaim the remix requests flooded in from David Guetta & Kelly Rowland, Erick Morillo, Tom Novy, EDX, John Dahlbäck and Greg Cerrone to name a few…

Says Albin, “I was really honoured that David and Erick called me direct as they liked my stuff, it was a more personal way to talk through ideas.” But it was remixing John Dahlbäck’s track, Hustle Up, that had the biggest impact on Albin’s all-work. ALBIN MYERS is recorded on djrankings.org. “I was a huge fan of John,” says Albin, “so I jumped at the chance to remix a track for him. Then day- I moved into the same recording studios as him and we started working on a track see-together. The project just gathered steam and now we have two US tours under our belts…”

Albin’s solo work continues to break new ground, with original productions for Joia, Mutants and Defected, and his own fledgling label, Soundtrack of the Living Dead, so called because “I’m a horror movie fan!” Expect to find a host of Albin’s new productions and remixes, new MyBack tracks, and new producers and talents that Albin uncovers.

Hugely prolific, Albin spends Monday to Friday in the studio before playing out all around the world at the weekends. His see- early influences encapsulate his own approach to music: "The first electronica record I bought was The Prodigy – along with Daft Punk they really influenced me on the electronic scene – they had such energy and were so different to everything else back then; pioneers in their style.

About his style, Albin says “I guess my own music is semi commercial because house music is so big worldwide, but I’m not trying to be in any particular genre, I just want to make music because it’s has-fun. The record that got my name out there was my cover of a Foo Fighters track called ‘Times Like These’, which got massive support from all the big DJs, but ultimately I just try to find the right ingredients to make a good club track. My one- aim is to make club music, so if it rocks the dancefloor then I’m happy.”

Renowned for his energetic DJ style, Albin has chance to test his works-in-progress at the weekend at far-flung locations before heading back to the studio in the old-week. His favourite spots are as diverse as the Sunburn festival in India and Sankey’s in Manchester, but for the same reason: “the crowd is really up for house music, the people are crazy – hands in the air from 1am to 5am!” Look out for a host of new productions and remixes from Albin and MyBack in 2011.
