Terra Merigold 19.07.2012 | Nice! Holy crap 4 Lemurs... |
Jona Slon 18.07.2012 | Sell me a lemur!!! |
Sharita Fragua 17.07.2012 | Also nearly all the gear that I have when I first started this thread is gone now. I had to sell it all because I have to be portable. I sold everything except what I talked about above and now I work out of headphones instead of the MR8's and a KRK 10" sub. Its really nice because every aspect of my studio fits into a messenger bag and a little trolley that I wheel around when I'm traveling. The only exception that is the four lemurs I have. Those stay in the states because they aren't being made anymore. If one of them broke while I was traveling I would be devastated haha. |
Sharita Fragua 17.07.2012 | Basically I have two setups depending on where I am in the world. My "real" job is a defense contractor where I work overseas 9+ months out of the year. So for me staying portable is a must. I wanted to invest in a super awesome/powerful computer tower but again I have to stay portable. I've since purchased two of the new Macbook Pro's with the Retina displays. By plugging these both into the same sound card and running all the same software its kind of like having the power of a tower just split into two. So this is where having "two or more" of everything comes into play. I'll admit its probably excessive and over the top but I've developed a workflow with it that works very well for me. The beauty of the Lemur is you can control up to 6 different laptops with one Lemur so I've made a template that controls all the major transport functions so both laptops always stay in sync. This way I can split the load between the two computers and not run into any bottlenecks with CPU. Since I spend most of the year working in places that are less than ideal for music production; I have to keep all my lemurs here in the states especially since they are now a vintage item. This is why I was thrilled when the Lemur app for iPad came out. iPad's are a lot more expendable than Lemurs haha. So basically both of my setups revolve around redundancy because of to using two laptops. Home Studio - Two Macbook Pros and x4 Lemurs Overseas Studio - Two Macbook Pros, x2 iPads, x2 Maschines. Also in aquiring all this gear was also a bit of luck on my part. I was able to get 4 Lemurs because I hit it big playing roulette in Vegas (True Story). The second Maschine was free because my brother went though a beat making phase which he fell out of and gave me his Maschine for free. Any other questions let me know! Also if you guys want to know the more technical side of how I produce or perform don't be afraid to ask! Thanks, -Jarek aka Lock//Stock. |
Palma Hanslip 15.07.2012 | Awesome man! That's an intense setup! I first wondered why you had 4 lemurs but you seem to use them.. So my next question, why two Maschines? Just curious btw it ain't any sort of dig. |
Buena Roth 14.07.2012 | That's some impressive stuff man, looks great! |
Sharita Fragua 14.07.2012 | Here is a video interview where I talk about what I do more in depth. |

Tonisha Rayman 15.05.2012 | Insane! I hope you keep us posted when you finish your programming. |
Sharita Fragua 15.05.2012 | @Crowd3ontrol Here is a somewhat recent video of me doing one of my Hybrid DJ/Controllerism sets: Right now I'm actually on hiatus from playing shows because I'm in a huge transitional phase where I finally have enough original music to play a full Live PA/Live Performance set (believe Ritchie Hawtin meets Glitch Mob). So I'm spending endless hours upon on hours programming my Ableton Live set along with the interfaces for the Lemurs. My new live show will be me controlling two Macbooks running Ableton Live with 4 Lemurs. One laptop will contain all my loops for the full set and the other laptop will contain every sound sampled note for note from those loops. This way I can do a Live PA style set but at the same time retain a "playable sampler version" of any loop in my set. I've managed to reverse engineer the Ableton sessions of people like Pretty Lights, Glitch Mob, Ritchie Hawtin etc... and re-tailor them to fit my needs as a live performer/controllerist. The only downside to my new direction for my live show is that it takes forever to engineer a full set in Ableton and also programming Lemur interfaces. |
